Meeting with Representatives of the Embassy

On January 26, 2023, the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs held a meeting with Brett Dvorak, Advisor on Political Issues of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan, and Dmitry Bocheko, Deputy Advisor of the Regional Security Bureau of embassy.

During the meeting, Police Colonels Ramil Kazimov and Samir Garayev, heads of divisions at the Main Department, were briefed the guests on the Republic of Azerbaijan's strategy for combating human trafficking. They also discussed key issues such as the improvement of the normative legal framework and institutional mechanisms, preventive measures to combat human trafficking, and the criminal prosecution of offenders. Additionally, extensive information was provided on the social rehabilitation and protection of trafficking victims, the development of cooperation, training for authorized representatives, and awareness measures. The meeting also addressed Azerbaijan-specific issues highlighted in the 2022 report on human trafficking by the United States of America.

Dmitry Bocheko, Deputy Advisor of the Embassy's Regional Security Bureau, proposed organizing training sessions on human trafficking in Azerbaijan with the support of the United States of America.

The meeting was conducted in a cordial and professional atmosphere, and appreciation was expressed for the ongoing collaboration.
