On April 3, a roundtable discussion titled “Barnahus Model: Integrating Justice, Care, and Children’s Rights” was organized by the Council of Europe at the JW Marriott Absheron Baku hotel. The event was conducted within the framework of the project “Protecting Children from Violence, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Including in the Digital Environment in Azerbaijan.”

An official from the Main Department on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings at the Ministry of Internal Affairs also participated in the event.

P. Zich, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Baku; J. Rahmatullayeva, Chief of Staff of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs; and K. Nurullayeva, Member of the Milli Majlis and Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs, delivered speeches at the roundtable.

The event featured presentations by international and local experts on “Introduction to the Barnahus Model: A Child-Oriented Model for Implementing International and European Standards,” “The National Framework for Combating Violence, Sexual Exploitation, and Sexual Abuse Against Children in Azerbaijan,” and “Barnahus in Practice: Experiences from Various European Countries.”

The session continued with panel discussions on the opportunities, challenges, and emerging practices regarding the implementation of the Barnahus model, followed by an exchange of views on the subject matter.
